at the white swann ground, in the shadow of leeds bradford airport. for the priestley shield final. this is the knock out cup for 2nd teams in the bradford league and sees yeadon take on favourites jer lane.

yeadon have home advantage by luck as venues were decided for all league finals in february. strict rules  regarding who can and who cannot play, as there is a stand alone bradford league 2nd team comp, so no chance for ringers to infiltrate. jer lane are gunning for their 5th 2nd team trophy, having won all 4 2nd division comps since joining  the set up in 2018 from the halifax league but have never won the priestley shield.  and are about to retain their 1st div title too. yeadon also in top flight of 2nd team cricket. home side batting 1st, 46 for 2 on another glorious day in this indian summer.

an interesting foot note being that yeadon have 2 brothers and their father all playing today, with dad lifting ! trophy in 2005, and his son simion the home side captain.  dad is also the groundsman too. , yesterdays result from the White Swan ground.and jer lane complete the set of winning all 5 2nd team trophy's with a 5 wicket win over yeadon.

yeadon decided to bat first and slid to 37 for 2, but dani hall and Seth pickering rebuilt

Until the former was out for 41 with a score at 81. But when the Pickering brothers, Simeon and Seth fell 50, and 31, respectively, They lost their last seven wickets for 40 runs. To finish on 182 all out. lane lost an early wicket, but batsmen two and three put on 102 for the second wicket and were careful not to get out as rain was in the air and were conscious of staying ahead of the DLS rate. but the rain abated and the 2  set batsmen fell for 51 and 52.

Two more quick wickets fell to leave lane, struggling on133 for 5. with a burst of 3 for 33 from a yeadon bowler. but batsmen 6 and 7 calmly guided lane home with an unbroken partnership to win with 3 overs to spare. excellent crowd for a 2nd team final in excess of 200.
