this is the knock out cup competition for teams in the airedale and wharfedale cricket league, considered to be the 2nd tier of cricket in west yorkshire. this is 3rd division vs 2nd on league standings. the home side were victorious over thackley in the first round, whilst calverley won through against st chads broomfield. 

both teams daring to dream of appearing in the 7th of august final at olicanian cc. cup won by rawden last year. villas batting on a cool and bright day on the outskirts of bradford.

Yesterday's result from all alone Road. And a cup upset as Bolton villas win by 43 runs against higher ranking Calverley st wilfrids. 

the home side slid to 64 for 4, before partnerships of 56, 61 and 46 for the 5th, 6, and 7th Wickets respectively pulled them round. They finished on 225 all out from 45 overs. ma contributions   of 72, 55, and 30. Three for 78 being the best of the calverley bowlers.The game looked to be up for the away side  when they slid to 96 for 7, following a blistering new ball spell  of  hostile bowling — 4 for 38. but the main batsman,  no. 7 for wilfrids had other ideas. keeping them well up with the rate in tandem with tom simpson, he took them to 178 with only 47 reqoired. he, then was dropped, — an absolute dolly of a chance before being clean bowled next over by the offending fielder to depart for 72. tom simpson, 39 fell next over, and the game was up for wilfrids. villas away to ilkley in the quarter finals, where they will be joined by rawden, collingham, otley, beckwithshaw, bilton and steeton.

at the barbican theatre, york. for uk snooker open 2nd round action. this being the 2nd most important tournament in snooker behind the world championship. today's action sees rocket ronnie o'sullivan take on the milkman, robert milkins from gloucester on table 1, and john higgins vs yen njou from china on table 2.  1 pm start. £25 admition.  best of 11 frames. my 1st live snooker action. full time from the barbican theatre. and a cracking match on table 1 goes the way of world ranked no. one, ronnie the rocket O’Sullivan. 6 frames to 5. the milkman from Gloucester stormed into a rather lucky 2 nil lead, but his dodgy safety play, along with his inability to sink the pressure pots eventually did for him. the rocket roared back to take a 4 2 lead,  but this sparked the milkman into action.  they traded frames to leave ronnie leading  5 3, but milkins won 2 on the trot to  set up a nervy decider. milkins missed a crucial pot,  and the rocket showed all of his experience and knowh

Saturday nine March 2024.

at stockham lane, for northern premier league div1 west action. step 4. game of the day in this league pits 2nd vs 4th.  Runcorn Linets vs Bootle.  home side in the 1st of the 4 play off spots, and 12 points run away leaders Leek Town.  bootle just 3 points behind them in 4th.  £10 entry on a cool and cloudy day. 3pm kick off. home side formed in 2006 following the collapse of Runcorn fc, who actually won what is now the national league in 1982 but weren't elected to the football league.  a local derby of sorts with the teams just 22  miles apart large crowd expected. full time from yesterday and a one nil win for bootle.  they scored mid way through the first half and virtually parked the bus for the entirety thereafter.  runcorn had  several half chances in the 2nd half, but bootle stood firm they remain in 4th, whilst runcorn slip down to 3rd behind prescott cables. crowd 611.
