at intake road, home of pudsey congs, for jack hampshire cup final. comp for 2nd and 3rd div teams from the bradford premier cricket league. buttershaw st pauls, 8th in div2 vs promotion chasing heckmondwyke and carlinghow, 2nd in div3.

this is a clash of 2 teams with modest histories, with st pauls being loosing finalists in this final in 2016. inconsistency has blighted  their season, hence their lower mid table position. h and c, on the other hand, are riding high at the top of div  3. although they will be underdogs, they have dispatched higher divdivision opposition in all 3 previous rounds of the cup.

this is their first ever appearance in a cup final and they may well feel that their name is on the famous old trophy this year. tt st pauls batting first on yet another gloris day in this long cricketing summer.

result from the Britannia ground, and buttershaw st pauls it is who take home the jack  hampshire cup, in a  thrilling final, getting home by 3 runs.

batting first, they mustered  a respectable 221 for 5 off 40 overs.

matty long, 62, Jonathan burston, 47, and skipper adam wainright, not out 35.

the writing looked to be on the wall for h and c when they slid to 47 for 4, but a 95 run 5th wickep partnership took them to 142 for  5 before chris allen was run out for 53.

but although wickets fell steadily, they kept up with the rate, thanks to qamar shahzad" with 4 needed off the last ball, he was stumped for 80.

harry Cunningham, 2 for 9, paul carol, 3 for 27and adam wainright, 2 for 31 for buttershaw. who lay the ghosts of 2016 to rest, when they lost the same final to ossett. whilst heckmondwyke must pick themselves up and focus on trying to win promotion.
