at the magical sleepy hollow, for gloucestershire quarter final in the national village club knock out.  where stapleton take on congbasbury.  this is 3rd tier vs 4 tier, with both plying their trade in the west of england premier cricket league. congresbury 87 for 4 after 13 overs. 40 overs aside.  both teams dareing to dream of a september final at lords.  32 regions, with 8 teams in each.   with the 32 regional winners making up the last 32. at kay lane.  for huddersfield premier cricket league action.  almoddbury weslians vs shepley. 10th vs 9th. a win for either will guarantee premier division survival for next term, with teams being 6 and 7 points above the trap door positions, currently occupied by gulcar and armitage bridge. 2 go down in a 14 team league.   delfh and dobcross already relegated, and the all conquering hoylandswaine, champions yet again. 2 games to go including today.  loser of today's match may still have work to do to avoid the drop, depending upon other results.  shepley batting first on a warm and cloudy  day.   'result from kay lane, and shepley ensure premier league survival with a 111 run win over almondbury. batting first, they found it tough and slow going and were 82 for 3 off 28 overs before the acceleration commenced.  77 run partnership for 4th wicket took them to 130 for 4, but they then  subsided to 194 for 7, before a 34 run unbroken 8th w...

 amidst the high octane and tension of the world cup final, i have made my way to the glorious calder valley for the semi final of the parish cup, the knock out competition for the halifax league, where booth take on illingworth st marys for a place in the august the 4th final.  the all conquering booth have won the halifax league 1st devition for the last 3 seasons, and won this competition in 2016 and 2017 too.  this is also the clash of the top 2 in the same devition. with st marys 16 points clear of booth.  winners to play shelf north owram hedge top or thornton. up hear in the calder valey and booth finish on a competitive 241 for 8 off 45 overs. booth slipped to 21 for 3, thanks to to some hostile opening bowling by luke brooksby, who eventually finished with fine figures of 4 for 28.  thereafter, it was left to the brothers laycock, robert, 118, and richard, 51 to rescue booth in spectacular style, putting on a 4th wicket partnership of 133 before richard...
