at north street. for west of england premier league 1st division action. 2nd from bottom downend vs clevedon, 2nd from top. the great w g grace was raised just opposite the cricket  club  although he never actually played for down end. dom bes has played for clevedon in the past. 2 go down from the league, downend in the final relegation place. bottom up from the table as follows: taunton dean, 100, downend 102, cheltenham and chippenham 106. then a large gap to 147. clevedon skittled for 147. 

phil jackson, 3 for 36 and oli louch, 3 for 12, the pick of the down end bowlers. camron harding, 46 and laurie woodland, 31, top scoring for the seasiders on a cloudy overcast afternoon in north east bristol.

at the barbican theatre, york. for uk snooker open 2nd round action. this being the 2nd most important tournament in snooker behind the world championship. today's action sees rocket ronnie o'sullivan take on the milkman, robert milkins from gloucester on table 1, and john higgins vs yen njou from china on table 2.  1 pm start. £25 admition.  best of 11 frames. my 1st live snooker action. full time from the barbican theatre. and a cracking match on table 1 goes the way of world ranked no. one, ronnie the rocket O’Sullivan. 6 frames to 5. the milkman from Gloucester stormed into a rather lucky 2 nil lead, but his dodgy safety play, along with his inability to sink the pressure pots eventually did for him. the rocket roared back to take a 4 2 lead,  but this sparked the milkman into action.  they traded frames to leave ronnie leading  5 3, but milkins won 2 on the trot to  set up a nervy decider. milkins missed a crucial pot,  and the rocket showed all of his experience and knowh

 at Sandhill Lane. Sutton on Derwent, 8 miles east of York. k3 dental cup action. Woodhouse Grange vs Scarborough. this is the combined club knock out comp for teams in the ecb yorkshire premier leagues north and south respectively. home side 4 times national village cup champions. scarborough also one and of the  more successful teams at this level too. a cool and cloudy day. conditions more like mid april rather than Mid June. Yesterday's result from Sandhill Lane. and Scarborough squeak through to the next round of the viking cup by 10 runs. Batting first, they  mustered a seemingly below parr 196 for 7, off a reduced 38 overs.  Top scorers for the Seasiders were Matthew Turnbull, 56, and Clarke Dougney, 55 not out.  The latter rescuing the Seasiders to some degree, with an unbroken 8th wicket partnership of 45 at the end of the innings.
