at baxter field, cinder hill lane, for yorkshire premier league south action. whitley hall, 6th, vs wakefield thornes, 2nd and 6 points behind the early pace setters appleby froddingham. 

ground located in ecclesfield, 6 miles north of sheffield. thornes have been one of the most successful teams in recent yorkshire league history, being crowned yorkshire club champions, and appearing in in the one and only final in  dubai  where they took on pudsey st  laurance in 2016. whittley hall batting first in the glorious south yorkshire sunshine. 

this is the top tier of cricket in south yorkshire and is one of the ecb accredited e c  b premier leagues.

Result from yesterday, and an  easy eight wickets stroll in the South Yorkshire sunshine for Wakefield thorns. 


 whittly hall won the toss and batted first, but could only muster 191 all out. opener chris sidal, 7th out and top scoring with 61. mathew taylor, 4 for 34 the best of the thornes bowling quartet. 

when it Was their turn to that, they cantered  home easily. South African import Byron boshov, 84, and jamie howarth  55, seeing them home and they take a 12 point maximum from the game. I  an also bumped into the dad of Northants  Ben Sanderson. as whitley hall was his home club. he was  released by yorkshire, and was persuaded to try his luck at minor counties shropshire, by ex tykes coach kevin sharpe, who "was their coach, 

 before being picked up by northants. a very proud father.
