These 2 adversaries are undoubtedly the 2 heavy weights of the league, and along with townville, have jointly swept all before them in league and cup competitions in   recent times. their also neck and neck in the premier div title race too. winners to play either methley or clekheaton. new farnley batting first on a sweltering day in west leeds

yesterdays result from the Barry Jackson ground, and a 67 run victory for new farnley over woodlands sees them through to the priestly cup final on the 14th  of august. batting first, they amassed a competetive 296 for 8 from 50 overs. opener and leg spinner mark lawson, 88, Adam Waite, 77 and wicket keeper Dan Hodgson, 41 the main stays. 

although they slid from 223 for 3 to 254 for 8 on a day for spinners thanks to kiwi Brad Schmeulian and Chris Brice with 3  wickets apiece. before a 42 run unbroken 9? wicket partnership. woodlands were 93 for no loss before new farnley's spinnner grant sommes was introduced, who proved to be the match winner with 6 for 73. Sam Frankland, 91, Tim Jackson, 35 and Mohammed Bilial 34 the main contributions. they'll now go onto play Methley, victorious over clekheaton in yesterday's other semi final.

at the barbican theatre, york. for uk snooker open 2nd round action. this being the 2nd most important tournament in snooker behind the world championship. today's action sees rocket ronnie o'sullivan take on the milkman, robert milkins from gloucester on table 1, and john higgins vs yen njou from china on table 2.  1 pm start. £25 admition.  best of 11 frames. my 1st live snooker action. full time from the barbican theatre. and a cracking match on table 1 goes the way of world ranked no. one, ronnie the rocket O’Sullivan. 6 frames to 5. the milkman from Gloucester stormed into a rather lucky 2 nil lead, but his dodgy safety play, along with his inability to sink the pressure pots eventually did for him. the rocket roared back to take a 4 2 lead,  but this sparked the milkman into action.  they traded frames to leave ronnie leading  5 3, but milkins won 2 on the trot to  set up a nervy decider. milkins missed a crucial pot,  and the rocket showed all of his experience and knowh

Saturday nine March 2024.

at stockham lane, for northern premier league div1 west action. step 4. game of the day in this league pits 2nd vs 4th.  Runcorn Linets vs Bootle.  home side in the 1st of the 4 play off spots, and 12 points run away leaders Leek Town.  bootle just 3 points behind them in 4th.  £10 entry on a cool and cloudy day. 3pm kick off. home side formed in 2006 following the collapse of Runcorn fc, who actually won what is now the national league in 1982 but weren't elected to the football league.  a local derby of sorts with the teams just 22  miles apart large crowd expected. full time from yesterday and a one nil win for bootle.  they scored mid way through the first half and virtually parked the bus for the entirety thereafter.  runcorn had  several half chances in the 2nd half, but bootle stood firm they remain in 4th, whilst runcorn slip down to 3rd behind prescott cables. crowd 611.
