Thornes  have proven league and cup pedigree in recent times and have won their league 3 times recently, as well as being crowned Inaugural Yorkshire club cricket champions in 2016, when they won their final in Dubai. They will be hot favourite to progress, but Methley is young side will certainly not be a push over. cup made up of teams from the various leagues in and around yorkshire, such as bradford league, yorks prem north and south leagues, huddersfield league and aire wharfe league. yesterday's result from field lane, and wakefield Thornes win through to the last 4 of the heavy woolen cup with a 85 run win over methley. 

batting first, they were in trouble at 100 for 7, still with 25 overs left to bat, thanks to a blistering new ball spell of hostile fast bowling by by Tom Chippendale, 4 for 21. but Matthew Taylor, 106 not out, and Imran Mahboob, 61 pulled them round. methley  were  going well at 91 for 2, but when ex  Yorkshire James Wainman fell for 53, the writing was on the wall, apart from methley's man of the match, Tom Chippendale, 44. Jawad Akhtar, 5 for 22 for thornes, being Methley's destroyer in chief.
