at a bright and breezy bradford road, for this bradford league 2nd division clash between wrenthorpe, 2nd, vs gommersall, 6th.

a mere 24 points separate the top 3 of undercliffe, the hosts, and morley.

wrenthorpe have adjusted well to life in the bradford league following  the competition's restructure 2 years ago which saw the them transfer from the now defunked central yorkshire cricket league, whilst gomersall sit in the classic mid table comfort zone.

home team batting first following a delayed start on a quirky characterful ground close to wakefield.

on a green top, this could be an exciting low scoring and close encounter.

at the half way stage here at bragg lane, rather than bradford road, and wrenthorpe close on 199 for 4.

they were 27 for 3, but a tremendous partnership between numbers 4 and 5 who scored 77 and 68 respectively prepelled them to a respectable score .

their innings had a  one and a half hour's break following a hefty dowm poor, meaning that gomersall have to score 200 but in 32 overs as the 2nd division rules stipulate that a target cannot be readjusted to account for bad weather, but this is strangely not the case in the top flight when duckworth lewis comes into  play.

this lead to gommersal being very reluctant to take the pitch after the rain break and the umpire giving them a sovere talking too and a delay to the proceedings too.

they are also very angry, meaning a good bit of needle between both teams.

result from yesterday and the controversy surrounding the score adjustment rules turned out to be irrelevant as wrenthorpe cruzed to an easy 110 run  win,  skittling gommersall out for 89, and only used 2 bowlers during the innings, who took 6 for 46 and 4 for 40 respectively.

gomersal started off as if they meant business and were 33 for 2 then 64 for 4 and were also scoring at 8 runs per over, but they lost too many wickets and   their lower order was quickly blown away.

with defeat for morley, wrenthorpe are now just 2 points behind leaders undercliffe and the promotion push is well and truely gathering momentum.
